Inter-Religious Council

Description

Convened and appointed by the Dean of Religious Life, the Inter-Religious Council (IRC) is the Atlanta-campus undergraduate student council of representatives of all recognized religious and philosophical student organizations (RPSOs) and is intended to build a positive pluralistic campus climate around religious and philosophical diversity.

Each Atlanta campus RPSO is required to send one representative, who is also a board member of their RPSO. The Dean also allows for a number of at-large representatives who are students from traditions without an RPSO or who have a strong interest in interfaith leadership to be part of the council as well.

Mission

Emory IRC’s mission is to build and sustain a healthy religiously pluralistic campus climate by (1) networking our RPSO communities, (2) growing as a community in religious literacy and interfaith leadership, dialogue, and action skills, and (3) serving the larger campus/community through initiatives and programs.
